MCLAREN'S LEWIS HAMILTON WINS F1 TITLE

Just hoping you were able to watch the Brazilizn GP to see the race of the century. Even though Masa won on the last lap in the rain, and thought he won the world Championship during the cool down lap, Hamilton (rain tires) passes Glock (no rain tires) for fifth place to take the title and become the youngest F1 champion in history. The title was won by 1 point in the final corner of the final race of the season in which the rain came on the final lap. Masa's comment after the podium was "that's racing".

Live Tracking HERE - great tracking with zoom. So far Cyril Despres has a 16 minute lead on the next to last stage.

Rider comments from the 450's and back markers:

12. Jordi Viladoms (E) “We rode most of the way as one big group which was fun, and with the pushing and jostling for position it was more like moto cross. I might be tired now but it was fun.”

18. Tim Trenker (D) “Today was awesome, riding in a big group. I did most of the navigation and after yesterday’s big fall I am sore. Over the last 50km I couldn’t stand because my legs were hurting.”

83. Mohammed Al Shamsi (UAE) “Excellent weather today with good visibility meaning I could see everything in front of me. The bike is running well, but a little slow on the fast sections because of the weight.”

Rider comments after Nissan SS3

1. Marc Coma (E) “It was really tough, especially with all the soft sand and with the high temperatures, and after 200km in the saddle it is very hot.” Asked if he was confident of a third successive win in the UAE he smiled and said: “We’ll leave that for the moment because there’s still a long way to go.”

2. Cyril Despres (F) “It was a long, hard day and really fast desert conditions. It wasn’t what I had expected. I expected more dunes.”

3. James West (GB) “With the foggy start, it was like a winding road in Scotland. The stage today didn’t allow you to relax at all. In fact in the first 20km I came off the bike three times because of the soft sand. The middle part was ok and in the last part again I had the same problems, coming off the bike several times.”

6. Francisco Lopez (RCH) “Today was very, very difficult and very long. Combined with the soft sand it proved to be good training and I feel very happy about the way I rode the bike.”

32. Ruben Faria (P) “It was very hard for most of the way. There were some fast sections which were good. 20km from the finish I suffered clutch problems so I’m pleased to complete the stage.”

BMW'S G450 X WINS EUROPEAN CROSS COUNTRY SERIES

As the 2008 enduro racing season draws to a close, the great results continue to roll in for BMW Motorrad. While Simo Kirssi was celebrating a comprehensive victory in last weekend's European Cross Country series final in Mattighofen (just seven days after winning the 2008 German Cross Country Championship) BMW Motorrad's G 450 X chassis designer Stefan Krause was also tasting the champagne on the podium - this time at Reutlingen in southern Germany, having secured the 2008 ADAC Pirelli Enduro Cup.

BMW AMERICAN US TROPHY TEAM HEADS TO TUNISIA

Breaking news, we’ve just learned that the US GS Trophy Team has won the inaugural BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy in Tunisia.
Since their selection from a field of six GS owners at the BMW Performance Center in Spartanburg, S.C. on August 28, Hendry, Stoddard and Adams have each prepared for the upcoming international competition in their own unique way.
Hendry, 25, manages a motorcycle dealership in Colorado and races extensively in on- and off-road competitions. He holds an AMA professional racing license for road racing and supermoto, and he is a professional level motocross racer locally. On Sunday, October 12, Hendry is poised to claim three roadracing championships and will celebrate both the end of a successful racing season as well as the promise of an international trophy on his racing resume.
“I thrive on competition,” observes Hendry, who was voted Team USA leader by his fellow teammates in Spartanburg. “I’m really excited to give my best effort.” STORY CONT.HERE

THE NEXT STEVE MCQUEEN?

California is well known for having some of the best motorcycling roads in the world. But compared with McGregor’s challenging earlier rides, the short trip I proposed we should make risked, I feared, being seen by the 37-year-old Scottish-born actor as dull and artificial. The plan was to ride into the Santa Monica mountains behind LA, then wind down onto the Pacific Coast Highway for a bit – one of the best riding roads in the US. To reach it we would ride the Topanga Canyon loop, with its steep side roads, which I was told were a blast to explore by motorbike, shrinking to a single lane hugging the side of the mountain, climbing and descending with no guard rails and little room to manoeuvre until the road comes down and meets the coast.
We would stop off for fish and chips at Neptune’s Net in Malibu, where the roaring thunder of motorcycles mingles with the sounds of sea and surf. It is a famous bikers’ haunt, California’s answer to the Ace Cafe in London, the world-famous gathering point for UK bikers. Our journey paled in comparison to the rough road from Yakutsk to Magadan in Siberia that McGregor had ridden in 2004 in Long Way Round. That road is known as the Road of Bones because it was built by Stalin’s political prisoners. McGregor regards it as the most memorable and arduous part of his 22,345-mile trip from London to New York. CONT. HERE

TEXAS ROUND OF AMA DUAL SPORT SERIES CANCELED

Texas Series Canceled
10/17/2008
The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) announced today the cancellation of the Nov. 8-9 AMA National Dual Sport Trail Riding Series event in Study Butte, Texas. As a result, no AMA-sanctioned dual-sport event is scheduled for this date.
Organizers of the event, the Trail Riders of Houston, requested the cancellation due to circumstances beyond their control. Both organizations express their regret and apologize to AMA members who planned to participate.
The AMA added that a second, unrelated dual-sport event scheduled for the same date and location is not an AMA-sanctioned event, and participants in this second event will not be entered into the end-of-year drawing for the AMA National Dual Sport Trail Riding Series.
More information from the Trail Riders of Houston is available at the club's website at
